THE FRONT BOTTOMS RELEASE ROSE EP

On Tour This Summer with Say Anything
Hitting the Festival Circuit with Reading, Leeds, Bestival and Riot Fest

“These are the songs that people ask for when we’re on tour,” says vocalist/guitarist Brian Sella of THE FRONT BOTTOMS, about their new six-track ROSE EP (Bar/None Records; release date June 17, 2014). “They’re songs that we’ve either played live at shows or had kicking around that we couldn’t let go of.” A collection of some of the best tracks of their career so far, many of the tracks on Rose will once again be road-tested when the band hits the touring circuit with a continental trek throughout the US and Canada as direct support of Say Anything this summer (tour dates below) as well as hitting the festival circuit with Reading Festival (UK), Leeds Festival (UK), Bestival (UK) and Riot Fest (Chicago, IK) all confirmed for later this Summer.

Named after drummer Mathew Uychich‘s grandmother Rosemary, Rose marks the first in a series of EPs named after their grandmothers which they plan on releasing in the future. “These songs were also Mat’s grandmother Rosemary’s favorite songs,” he explains. “So it was kinda fitting that we named this EP Rose.” Launching the CD with the crowd pleaser “Flying Model Rockets,” it kicks off with an epic and bombastic bang. Epic and conversational, the track propels listeners through their trademark clever lyrics have started massive sing-alongs at their live shows. “Lipstick Covered Magnet” and “Be Nice To Me” continue the punk thematics while the moody and introspective “Awkward Conversations” projects the tension of a relationship on the verge of collapse. The immediate smiling infectiousness of “12 Feet Deep” posits the story right in the middle of that precarious time between high school and college when kids have to confront a wider world. The teaser track/lyric video “Jim Bogart” puts Brian in the unenviable position of pining for a girl who doesn’t reciprocate his feelings and can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/5rdkSb3K0LE.

Formed in Northern Jersey, The Front Bottoms grew organically throughout the underground and made major headway into the mainstream. With local and national press like Alternative Press, BrooklynVegan, VICE, Filter, All Music Guide, DRUM Magazine, SPIN, Aquarian Weekly, Jersey Beat, MTV, Billboard, Huffington Post, and many others driving donuts around them, they even found major believers in Bob Boilen of NPR who has been a huge supporter since day one and has branded them “…A great rock ‘n’ roll band”. “I first saw [The Front Bottoms] at CMJ, and there was a room of three or four hundred people, singing back every single word of the songs to the lead singer. And it happened again in Philadelphia — a hot sweaty basement with the same thing, hundreds of kids screaming back every word to the lead singer. A great rock ‘n’ roll band.”
